Just another designer who ekes out a living doing what he loves to do. I'm currently the lead designer at an LA based company which will remain nameless. From time to time I will post some of my work in progress but mainly this blog is a platform for various forms of inspiration, mainly but not limited to, music, art, design, photography, surfing, skating, martial arts, comics, movies, books, etc... you get the idea. I try to update this as often as possible but sometimes its easy to get caught up in the day to day. So I am not always on-point with the posts. Such is Life I guess...

Superhero Nursing Home

“Looks like our favorite superheroes have finally grown old. Now, instead of flying around, taking down bad guys, and saving the world, they’re spending their last few days at a nursing home made for Superheroes.

Superman leans on a walker, while Catwoman takes her afternoon nap. The Incredible Hulk, flabby and in tatters, vegetates in a wheelchair. Mr. Fantastic dangles his overstretched limbs, while Captain America lies comatose on a gurney, attended by a decrepit Wonder Woman.

These depressing life-like sculptures were created by contemporary artist Gilles Barbier, who currently lives and works in Marseille, France.”

Picasso Superheroes by Mike Esparza »

“I get a lot of my inspiration from comic books, movies, music and observing other artwork. When I paint, I tend to bend the rules a little, but try to keep my subject recognizable so the audience can still connect with it. Pablo Picasso is a great influence, I’ve always wondered if he were alive today, what would he paint? This past year I’ve had a lot of fun creating a superhero series with a Picasso style twist to them. I do have some super plans for creating more superhero artwork in the near future.”
